Officials and consultants inspect Teyongsi Sirijunga statue fabrication work in progress


NAMCHI, 27 March: A team of officials from the Rural Development & Management Department, accompanied by representatives of the Limboo association were at Assangthang here on a daylong visit to supervise the 36-feet tall bronze statue of Limboo reformer and revivalist Teyongsi Sirijunga Sing-Thebe being fabricated there for the project coming up at Hee-Gaon in West Sikkim.

The visiting team comprised of RMDD Chief Engineer CP Tongden, former Secretary Kiran Rasailly, SE, RMDD (S) Kewal Sharma, engineers and other officials from the Department along with Limboo association president SP Subba and other members of the association.
They inspected progress on the fabrication underway and discussed final rectifications proposed for the statue.
The project, undertaken by RMDD, is being carried out in coordination with the Limboo association and has been funded on a total project cost of Rs. 13 Crores. The Phase-I works, comprising Rs. 6 crores is underway at present.
During the meeting, Mr. Rasailly informed this would be the final rectification for the statue and added that the highest-grade materials will be used to craft the ambitious statue.
