Cabinet sanctions wide bouquet of proposals


GANGTOK [IPR]: A Cabinet meeting was held on 21 March in the Cabinet Hall of Tashiling Secretariat, Gangtok.
The Cabinet approved various proposals of various department of the State government in its meeting.
The Cabinet took up the following proposals:

HORTICULTURE AND CASH CROP DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal seeking approval and sanction of Rs. 83,07,315 for the implementation of nine developmental programmes in the State during the current financial year.
The Cabinet approved the proposal seeking approval and sanction of Rs. 144.925 lakhs and advance release of Rs. 56 lakhs for implementation of Tubular Structure Green House for cultivation of rose during 2010-11 to 31 beneficiaries.
TOURISM AND CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal seeking financial approval and financial sanction of Rs. 405.41 lakh for the development of a Pilgrimage Circuit at Rorathang, Reshi and Rhenock in East Sikkim.
SOCIAL JUSTICE EMPOWERMENT AND WELFARE DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal for sanction and approval to transfer Rs. 30 lakhs from TSP and Rs. 9 lakhs from SCSP to Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department for implementation of Mukhya Mantri Khadya Suraksha Abhiyan (MMKSA) to 2,288 Scheduled Tribe families and 686 Scheduled Tribe families during 2010-11.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal seeking approval and en-bloc sanction of Rs. 373.69 lakhs for setting up of a State Biotech Hub and also development of state of art Biotech Laboratory facilities and Green house and Poly Houses at Sajong and transfer of Rs. 40.10 lakhs from the State Plan to the Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology.
The Cabinet approved the proposal of Rs. 5 crores for setting up a Database of employees and Pensioners under the 13th Finance Commission Grant.
SOCIAL JUSTICE, EMPOWERMENT AND WELFARE DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal for according approval and sanction of Rs. l,25,98,176 for implementation of Hot Meal Programme for the months of October 2010 to February 2011.
WATER SECURITY AND PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal and sanctioned Rs. 9,83,42,000 for construction of Water Supply Scheme in Pakyong, East Sikkim under NLCPR.
The Cabinet approved the proposal of Rs. 2,32,00,000 for the works strengthening of raw water main from Selep to Rateychu in Gnathang Block, East District and protection of Hans Pokhari at Tamzey.
BUILDING AND HOUSING DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal seeking approval and sanction of Rs. 623.80 lakhs for the construction of Special Branch office Building at Tadong below Sikkim Jewels factory, Gangtok.
ENERGY AND POWER DEPARTMENT: The Cabinet approved the proposal for according approval and sanction of Rs. 760.78 lakhs for installation of 15 MVA, 66/ 11 KV transformer and extension bay at 66/ 11 KV Sub-Station at Mamring, South Sikkim.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Pawan Chamling, who is also Minister in-charge for Department of Home, Finance, Revenue and Expenditure, Development Planning, Economic Reforms & North East Council Affairs etc; Ran Bahadur Subba, Minister for Department of Roads & Bridges; Thenlay Tshering Bhutia, Minister for Water Security & Public Health Engineering, Transport; Dawa Norbu Thakarpa, Minister, Department of Health Care, Human Services and Family Welfare, Food Security and Agriculture Dev. and Horticulture & Cash Crops Dev. & Irrigation and Flood Control Department and Parliamentary Affairs Department; NK Pradhan, Minister for Department of Human Resource Development Department, Sports & Youth Affairs Department & Information Technology Department; Sonam Gyatso Lepcha, Minister, Department of Energy & Power and Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department; Chandra Bahadur Karki, Minister, Department of Rural Management & Development and Cooperation Department, Information and Public Relations, Printing and Stationery; Dawcho Lepcha, Minister, Department of Animal Husbandry, Live Stock, Fisheries & Veterinary Services; Bhim Prasad Dhungel, Minister, Department of Tourism, Forest Env., & Wildlife Management, Mines, Minerals & Geology and Science & Technology; Tilu Gurung, Minister, Department of Building & Housing; Neeru Sewa, Minister, Department of Commerce & Industries, and Excise (Abkari), Labour Department.
